How Long Does Sibling DNA Testing Take?

how long does a sibling dna test take?

As soon as the laboratory has all of the DNA samples from those who are participating, sibling DNA test results are usually available in 2 business days. The only exception to this time frame for providing you with results is if:

  • extended testing is needed to examine more genetic material (which is not common), or
  • you have sent in something for DNA testing that is not a mouth swab and requires a viability test first.

A DNA sibling test is always run twice to verify the DNA findings prior to issuing results. Your sibling test results will also reviewed, and approved, by one of the laboratory Ph.D.’s, who must sign the report prior to sending it to you. A report that is not reviewed, or signed, by a Ph.D. in genetics, whether for peace of mind or a legal situation, is something we would not provide and would not trust.

Depending on whether you are testing for full siblingship, or doing a half sibling DNA test, the report with the lab findings will be 100% accurate. We do not guarantee specific results, only accurate ones. We do think it’s important to be prepared that the results may prove or disprove the relationship tested for.

Results are delivered by email in a .pdf format. They are written in easy to understand language and we also provide a guide for additional information if necessary. If you want a permanent copy of your results you can either print the .pdf copy, or order a hard copy mailed to you when you place your order.
