Home Paternity Test Kit - 26 Marker
This private at home paternity test uses 26 markers instead of the standard 16 markers, and is the most accurate home paternity test available. Read why Bio-Gene will not perform 16 marker testing for any Paternity DNA testing. The cost difference in minimal, but the accuracy of the results are higher using a 26 marker home test. This test is for one alleged father and one child. To be included as the biological father, a total of 23 of the 26 markers must match. 22 or fewer and the alleged father will be excluded as the biological father.
This is the same test we use for our legal testing, but without the chain of custody or third-party collection and is run twice for accuracy.
For those who may need a legal test in the future, but want to know who the father is before taking a legal paternity test, we offer this test as an option as a portion of the testing fee will be applied toward the cost of the regular price of a legal DNA paternity test if one should be needed at a future time (you will need to order a legal DNA test within 3 months of testing to be eligible) .
The most accurate method of testing is to use a buccal swab, which is similar to a “Q-tip”, which has been rubbed on the cheeks of the mouth of those being tested, but sometimes it is not possible to obtain a buccal sample. We are able to test alternative samples, normally at no extra cost. The sample must have been stored in a paper envelope or breathable environment. The sample should not have been stored in a plastic bag at any time.
Some of the alternative samples that can usually be tested include:
- Blood sample
- Toothbrush
- Bandaid (Used)
- Feminine Hygiene
- Ear wax
- Chewed gum
- Tooth
- Fingernails
- Tissue (Used)
- Hair (8-10 strands with the roots attached)
Your testing results will generally be available in 2 business days and are provided to you via e-mail so you don’t have to wait any longer than necessary to get the answers you need and deserve.
Understanding your 26 marker home paternity test results
Due, to the high number of genetic markers we compare between the alleged father and the child, we are able to draw a conclusive result when delivering your results. You won’t have to wonder if the results are correct or try to understand why the results are not conclusive. We have included two sample paternity reports to demonstrate how your results will be shown. Of course this information is always highly confidential, and kept in a secure manner, accessible to you 24 hours a day.
Result One: The man testing is NOT the father of the child (studies show one out of every 3 men discover they are not the biological father each year per the American Association of Blood Banks -AABB)
To be the biological father, there MUST be a match on 23 or more of the 26 genetic markers that are tested. 22 or fewer matched will result in what is called an “exclusion” meaning the man is NOT the biological father.
Result Two: In this case, the alleged father matched on 25 of 25 alleles (another word for genetic markers) of the child tested. The term :”cannot be excluded” is the scientific term for “IS the biological father”.
As you can see, these reports are conclusive and easy to understand. Of course, if there are ever any questions, our experienced Case Managers are always available to help.
How much does a paternity test cost?
Bio-Gene’s Home DNA Paternity Kit is actually less expensive than “drug store” tests. The average cost of a test kit at stores like CVS or Walgreens is $30.00. Then you have to pay tax in addition to that. The tests you purchase at a retail store do not include lab processing fees which can add another $130.00, usually more, to the test. You also have to then send your DNA samples at your cost to the lab. By the time you are finished, you are looking at close to $180.00 for a 16 marker test. We can perform a much higher, more accurate test, at a price that is far less than you would end up paying with a retail packaged test kit.
To order your paternity test kit, please complete the order form below and you will be taken to our secure server. We offer a single pay option (at a discounted price) as well as a payment plan, because we understand that every case is unique. Our prices can be found by selecting the test of your choice, the number of people testing, and your payment preferences when providing the information that is relevant to your particular case.
